Saintes, 6 June 2013
ACDN (Action des Citoyens pour le Désarmement Nucléaire), in line with its slogan “Enough Hate Already!”, shares the stupor and indignation felt by all democrats and people of heart on hearing of the death in Paris yesterday of Clément Méric, 18 years, a student at Sciences Po, a trade-union activist, who has now fallen victim to a group of fascist militants. We share the pain of his relatives and friends, and we send them our condolences.
ACDN endorses the request made by several political parties to the Minister of the Interior to urge the police forces into diligent efforts to find as soon as possible those persons responsible for this murder and to bring them to justice, and also the request made to the government to dissolve the divisive leagues that are wanting to rule the streets through violence and fear.
Irrespective of his political allegiance, Clément Méric’s death concerns all democrats and calls us to action.
ACDN invites all those who can do so to join the meetings of grief and protest which will be held around France, notable in Paris, Place Saint Michel, this evening at 6. 30 pm.
In Saintes, the headquarters of ACDN, we call on everyone who is revolted by this murder to gather tomorrow (Thursday 7 June) in front of the sous-préfecture building, place du Synode, for a silent vigil in memory of Clément Méric and for the submission of a message to the government.
