President of Ukraine continued phone consultations with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel

The parties discussed the efforts of the Ukrainian President aimed at the establishment of peace in the Donbas. Petro Poroshenko expressed hope that the proposals on ceasefire regime would be implemented by all parties.

The Head of State supported the readiness of Russian party to implement the joint Plan of actions on peaceful settlement. According to Petro Poroshenko, the Plan of actions must include mutual obligations on the regime of bilateral ceasefire, its monitoring and verification by the OSCE, withdrawal of all foreign troops from the territory of Ukraine, establishment of buffer border area, liberation of all hostages and Ukrainian citizens illegally detained in Russia.

President Poroshenko hopes that the given joint Plan of actions can become a basis for consultations of Trilateral contact group on September 5 in Minsk.

At the end of conversation, Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel coordinated their positions on the eve of NATO Summit that will be held in Newport on September 4-5.
