Media Release from ACDN / CSGF-RAHAN, 29 May 2012 Today Jean-Marie Matagne begins the 15th day of his hunger strike to obtain a referendum on France’s participation in a process for abolishing nuclear weapons. Since May 15 he has lost 10 kilos, but his health is good and his morale is intact. This last weekend, the dailies and weeklies for the Charente Maritime (Sud Ouest, Le Littoral, La Haute Saintonge, L’Angérien libre...) and the local radio stations gave a good account of his action. His support committee (CSGF-RAHAN) continues to extend and coordinate solidarity on the national level. A plan is taking shape for symbolic "accompaniment fasts". Numerous messages of support have come from all over France and abroad. His determination is total. He is waiting for the President of France to reply to his request for an audience. Yesterday he published an article, on the blog of Jean-Marie Collin (an expert in weapons and disarmament) and also on the ACDN website. It is entitled "Abolishing nuclear weapons: is strict and effective mutual international monitoring possible?"
