Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Never Again !

Published 27 July 2018

Media release from ACDN, 27 July 2018

From August 6 to August 9, 2018, in Saintes at the Monument to the Fallen, Place du Palais de Justice, the Nuclear Disarmament Flame will burn again in memory of the victims of the nuclear bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki (of August 6 and 9, 1945) and to call for the abolition of nuclear and radioactive weapons.

During this period, citizens are invited to gather at the foot of the Nuclear Disarmament Flame and to lay a flower (preferably white) or a bouquet of flowers from the fields, the garden or a florist’s.

On August 9 at 10.45 a.m., in Saintes, at the same spot, a public ceremony will commemorate the victims of Nagasaki, at the hour of the bomb, and the Flame will then be extinguished until next year. You are all invited to take part.

Citizens can also act in the cause of abolishing nuclear and radioactive weapons by inviting MPs and senators from every département of France to sign ACDN’s Bill aimed at organising a referendum on the question:

« Do you want France to participate in abolishing nuclear and radioactive weapons and engage with all the states concerned in negotiations aimed at establishing, ratifying and implementing a treaty to ban and completely eliminate nuclear and radioactive weapons, under mutual and international control that is strict and effective. »

According to an IFOP poll, 85% of French citizens would say YES to this question.

People (inside and outside France) can help achieving this aim, by giving their support to the Bill proposed by ACDN.
